Biography

Thomas Tsai is a developer and associate researcher in Free Software Lab at National Center for High-Performance Computing, Taiwan. The Free Software Lab is focused on developing free software that can be used in the field of High Performance Computing (HPC). He wrote partclone which is tool to make partition as image with GPL license. With Steven Hsiau, Ceasar Sun, and Jazz Wang, we developed other free software "DRBL" and "Clonezilla". He is main developer of "Tuxboot" and "PyDRBL", the sub project of DRBL. Member of koha taiwan community, help libraries use the open source library system. Thomas will keep develop free software and promote everyone enjoy GNU/Linux.

In November 2007, he won the public sector software award at the International Free Software Contest, Soissons, France. In 2008, he was recognized for his outstanding contribution in science and technology by the Executive Yuan, Taiwan.

He focuses on middleware and free software research for high performance computing (HPC) and is a core developer of Partclone, a tool for saving file systems on a partition as an image or cloning the file system to another disk. His recent research has examined streaming data and AI framework integration systems, and he is also in charge of DAS, a data analysis platform in NCHC.
